Homestead Exemption Form

Email the Auditor's Office regarding homestead exemption

The Homestead Program is designed to provide tax credit relief to citizens who are at
least 65 years of age or permanently and totally disabled.
An applicant must own and
reside in the home for which they are applying. Land contracts, life estates and trusts
meet the criteria for home ownership.

On June 30, 2007 Governor Strickland signed into law new guidelines for the Homestead
program which eliminated income eligibility guidelines. Now, any homeowner who resides
in the home for which they are applying, who is 65 or older or who is totally and
permanently disabled is eligible for an exemption. The new law exempts the first $25,000
of value of the home.

Applications for this year must be filed with the County Auditor:

Karl L. Keith, Montgomery County Auditor
451 W. Third St.
Dayton OH 45422-1021.
Attn: Homestead Dept.

between July 2, 2007 and October 1, 2007. Applications are available online,
by phone at the Homestead Hotline 937-225-4341 and at various governmental offices
throughout the county.
